Recently, some students from Rieter abroad are preparing to go to the UK for their undergraduate studies in September 2024, and many students have now submitted their UCAS applications。I believe that when students fill in the UCAS application, they will encounter a lot of problems that they do not understand. What does the word mean, that is, they do not know what the application refers to。For example, what is an Adviser, what is Clearing, and what is Firm choice?

Adviser:A person who provides information, advice and support for a student's application, be it a teacher, tutor, adviser or agent。

Agent:These are agents from around the world who recruit students on behalf of British universities, colleges, language centres and private boarding schools in their home countries and are paid a commission by British institutions。

Buzzword:UK schools (high schools) will provide students with a set of numbers to link to their university application, independent applicants (students who do not apply through the school) do not need to fill in。

The Centre:Schools, colleges or organisations that can help students apply to UK universities。

Changed course offer:When a student fails to meet the application requirements for the program they are applying for, or the school makes changes to its program, the student may receive a "change of course offer"。

Choice:Many students apply for more than one course to improve their chances of getting an offer。

Clearing:During the UCAS undergraduate application process, if you do not receive an offer, reject all offers, or fail to obtain the required grades, you can apply for a UK university course through UCAS's Clearing service。

Conditional offer:Equivalent to pre-offer, a formal offer is made as long as the student meets the conditions listed in the offer。

Unconditional offer:When a student gets an Unconditional offer, it means that the student can easily enter the major in the school as long as he or she is willing。

Confirmation:When the student gets the Conditional offer,The student's decision to accept the conditional offer is called Confirmation.,If the student meets the conditions in the Conditional offer,Unconditional offer。

Conservatoire:A school that offers performance-based programs in music, dance, film and television, and drama。

Deferral:If a student wishes to enroll in a relevant course at the relevant school in the next academic year, he or she may choose to extend the offer of a relevant course at the relevant school for one year。

Entry requirements:Admission requirements, but not to meet these requirements must be able to get the offer, not to fail to meet these requirements must not get the offer。

Extra:Extra is a validation service for UCAS undergraduate applications that you can use if you don't get an offer from one of your previous five institutions。

Firm choice:In the schools you apply to, if Firm choice makes you an offer, you will definitely accept it。

Insurance choice:A second choice in addition to Firm choice, in case the student cannot meet the conditions for Firm choice。

Further Education:The level of education you completed at school or college before starting higher education。

Gap year:In the year before starting a higher education course, students choose to take time off to travel, volunteer, or intern。

Graduate:Students who have completed their undergraduate program and graduated。

HEP:A higher Education Provider, including a university, college, or conservatory of music。

Higher education (HE) :Undergraduate and graduate courses upon completion of Further Education。

Invitation:During your application process, you may receive an invitation from a university or college to attend an interview, or to provide a portfolio, essay, or other work。

League tables:Schools are ranked, either overall or by reputation, programme or department。

Personal ID or UCAS ID:When registering for a UCAS account, the UCAS system will email you a set of numbers in the format of xxx-xxx-xxxx。

Point of entry:Used to indicate the year in which you start classes, for example "2" means you will start classes in your second year。

Sandwich course:A course with an extra year to do an internship in your field of study。

Scheme code:Similar to a personal ID, it is used together with a personal ID to identify a student's application。

Tariff:It is a system that converts students' scores from different types of academic tests into points in order to apply to undergraduate colleges with uniform quantitative data。

UCAS Conservatoires:Application system for undergraduate courses in performing arts。

UCAS Hub:Search, save and view the course's website。
